Many Voices, One Nation
We are proud to announce that, in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution and Florida Humanities, we have developed a unique exhibition that examines how the many different voices of people in America contributed to and continue to shape communities across the nation. In recognition of this national honor, ACDC has partnered with the Coral Gables Museum to host the grand premiere of Many Voices, One Nation: En Nuestras Palabras, opening to the public on July 1, 2026, in anticipation of our nation’s 250th anniversary.
Through the project, Allapattah CDC staff worked with colleagues from the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street (MoMS) to develop an exhibition that highlights the cultural intersections that are the backbone of Allapattah. Using Smithsonian-curated content and resources, the curatorial framework has been fleshed out using local historical images, art and artifacts, video clips, and oral histories layering community narratives onto a national framework to reflect the strong history and culture of Allapattah.

Allapattah’s story is inseparable from the American story. For generations, the neighborhood has been a landing place for migrants and immigrants from across the Caribbean and Latin America. The neighborhood is a living example of the national ideal. The exhibition explores: E pluribus unum, “Out of many, one.” Communities like Allapattah hold stories essential to understanding how America became who it is. Many Voices, One Nation: En Nuestras Palabras, “In Our Words”, explores themes of expansion, freedom, inclusion, equality, migration, and cultural negotiation told through those who were here already, those who came by force, and those who came seeking new beginnings.
