Thriving & Rising: 2024 Impact Report

There is a lot going on in our country, and we are making the most of every opportunity to ensure that we are still building an economy that works for all, while preserving the cultural legacy of Allapattah. See everything we accomplished in 2024 below.

ACDC Wins Smithsonian Grant

The Smithsonian Institute is celebrating the 250th Independence Anniversary of our nation, and our organization was chosen along a total of 10 in the country to be part of their exhibit. In collaboration with Florida Humanities, who is funding this work, ACDC will license the “Many Voices, One Nation” Smithsonian traveling exhibit, and we will expand on it with stories of how Miami, and specifically Allapattah, contributed to America becoming “U.S.”

Collaborating With Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart

Our Director of Grant Operations and our Chief Asset & Preservation Officer met with the office of our Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, as we continue to identify opportunities to collaborate. We are excited about what is possible – stay tuned to hear more as these plans unfold.

More Resources for Commercial Acquisitions

We are committed to helping small businesses stay in place. This requires access to both capital and expertise, which our business owners can tap into at every step in the process of acquiring their storefronts. That is exactly what Connecting Community to Capital (3C) is all about! The team just visited Allapattah, and the first community meeting is happening in the second quarter. Will you be accessing capital to buy your storefront?

BizLatina Starts With A BANG!

Negocios Activos has a special new series: BizLatina. Latina business owners continue to be the fastest growing segment of entrepreneurs in the United States, and they are ready to take on South Florida by storm. Both our Negocios Activos and BizLatina workshop series attract a growing number of small business owners from the greater Miami area.

Florida Department of State & Main Street Visit Us

The Florida Department of State and Main Street America made a visit to Allapattah to get to know our programs more intimately. We gave Daniel Webster a tour of Little Santo Domingo, he enjoyed an afternoon with our Tradicion En Accion participants, and discussed new ways that the Department of State is looking to engage with Allapattah CDC. We are grateful for these strong partnerships!
